In celebration of manufacturing month, Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at Lorain County Community College will present a “STEM Showcase and Discover Your Super Hero” event from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10 in College Center Commons.
The interactive event will highlight STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) disciplines with a special focus on engineering. The STEM showcase is mainly designed for middle and high school students and is offered free of cost. Female engineering students and engineers from the industry will share their experiences. Female officers from the U.S. Army will also be on hand to speak to the students. Attendees will have the opportunity to use the STEM truck, a national asset from the Army, a welding simulator and more. Women engineers from New Zealand, India, the National Science Foundation and Washington, D.C. will participate virtually.
SWE President Jessica Rannow will give a lightning talk on “STEM Inspiration.” A live broadcast of the event will also be available for those who register.
