“Mastering Virtual Work” Course Available in Eight-Week Session

Virtual work is one of the fastest growing changes in the work modes of the 21st century. Lorain County Community College offers a course called “Mastering the Virtual Workplace,” which enables students and businesses to learn more about this important business trend.

ImageThis course will give students a clear understanding of the significant changes that continue to occur in the workplace as a result of mobile technology, how these changes affect workplace performance, collaboration, efficiency, management, planning and culture. 

“Mastering Virtual Work” is being offered from 5:30-7:55 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, in an eight-week session that runs from March 24 to May 20.  It is a three-credit hour course. It may be taken as a stand-alone course as an elective toward an LCCC degree, or in combination with other LCCC courses to earn a short-term certificate of completion. The course number is BADM194.

Students will learn the latest tools and techniques for the virtual office and also help in the establishment of a virtual office for those who plan to operate a home business.

This course is valuable for employers as well in learning how to establish a virtual work environment. Topics covered include management challenges, employee responsibilities and the traits of successful remote employees.

Virtual Workplace Certificate of Completion

    
Students may earn a short-term Certificate of Completion by taking the following courses:

  • BADM 194 Mastering Virtual Work (three credit hours)
  • CISS 121 Microcomputer Applications I (three credit hours) 
  • PSYH 151 Introduction to Psychology (three credit hours) 
  • PSYH 273 Industrial/Organizational Psychology (three credit hours) 
  • BADM 261 Entrepreneurship (three credit hours)

 

Virtual Workplace Training for Businesses

    
Coursework for Mastering the Virtual Workplace is available also on a non-credit basis for businesses that are considering bringing virtual workplaces to their organizations. Coursework is provided in a condensed format, and is available on a contract-training basis through the Entrepreneurship Innovation Institute at Lorain County Community College.
