Tuition at Lorain County Community College will remain at the current rate for the next two academic years. The Lorain County Community College’s Board of Trustees Thursday approved a tuition freeze for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 academic years in response to the state’s higher education budget.

The freeze holds the cost per credit hour to $92.30 (including fees) for Lorain County residents. This equates to $1,107.60 for tuition and fees per semester and $2,215.20 annually for Lorain County residents taking classes full-time. LCCC’s innovative blanket tuition program gives students the opportunity to take up to 18 credit hours and pay only for 13 credit hours, or $1,199.90 each semester.

Tuition at LCCC is the best value in Ohio and is about one-quarter of tuition rates at public universities in Ohio. It remains the second lowest in the state. The college has nearly 11,000 students enrolled, which represents a 50 percent increase since 2000. LCCC is among the top 15 fastest growing community colleges in the nation with college’s over 10,000 students, according to Community College Week.
