The Wellington community and southern townships of Lorain County responded with great enthusiasm and took advantage of educational opportunities now available at the new LCCC Wellington Center. The center opened in August.
This fall 244 students registered for classes at the Wellington Center. Of those, 108 came from Wellington. They enrolled in classes covering Accounting, Algebra, Art History, Body Structure and Function, College Composition, College Mathematics, Creative Writing, Civilization, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Finance, Marketing, CPR, Oral Communications, Microcomputer Applications, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics, Technical Mathematics.
Registration for spring classes begins Monday, October 22.
The LCCC Wellington Center is located at 151 Commerce Drive, (off Rt. 58 just north of Rt. 18). The new facility is a 10,000 square foot building which features two flexible classrooms, study/conference rooms, a 25–station computer lab and four interactive video distance–learning classrooms that connect with LCCC and the University Partnership. The United States Department of Agriculture provided a grant worth $277,000 that will be used for technology to transmit instruction from the LCCC campus to the Wellington Center.
When classrooms are not being utilized for instruction, they are available for use by the community as meeting spaces.
