Lorain County Community College is among the top 15 fastest growing community colleges in the nation, and was recently ranked as the 13th fastest growing public two-year community college in the nation among community colleges with 10,000 or more students. The ranking was compiled by Community College Week and published in its December 4 issue.
Community College Week compared enrollment statistics from fall of 2004 to fall of 2005 to determine its rankings. LCCC experienced a 4.8 percent increase in enrollment in that time period. LCCC is also Ohio’s fastest growing college and reached its highest enrollment point this past fall with 10,659 students. That is a 3 percent increase over the previous year and a more than 50 percent increase since the year 2000.
“This ranking in Community College Week is an indication that LCCC is providing the kinds of educational opportunities that residents of Lorain County need to enhance their ability to meet the demands of our changing economy,” said LCCC President Dr. Roy A. Church.
Community College Week is an independent publication that covers issues for and about two-year community colleges. |
